FUNCTIONS
Bilberry (Vaccinium myrillust) is a rich source of anthocyanidins and anthocyanosides that help naturally support normal levels of eye inflammation, occasional eye fatigue, and overall support in conditions such as: age-related mascular and retinal degeneration, cataracts, glaucoma, myopia, and nyctalopia (night blindness)

Eleuthero (Eleutheroccoccus senticosus) is an adaptogenic, chemoprotective plant containing eleutherosides, which may support normal levels of inflammation and free radicals in the eye, helping to relieve occasional eye fatigue.

Seanol®-P (SeaPolynol, Ecklonia cava extract) is the most powerful and long-acting, natural ‘free radical killer’ now known. Unlike virtually all of the land-based, ‘hydrophilic’ (water-sluble) polyphenols, including catechins and EGCG from green tea extract, anthocyanosides from bilberry and blueberry extracts, proanthocyanidins from grape seed and pine bark extracts, etc., the effectiveness of Seanol®-P is, in part, due to the fact that these sea-based, polyphenol-phlorotannin extracts contain large amounts of ‘lipophilic’ (fat-soluble), ‘hydrophobic’ (water-insoluble) compounds. This gives Seanol®-P the unique ability to be easily absorbed into and concentrated in all the cells of t he body, including the eyes, and also pass through the blood-brain barrier, thereby helping to support overall occular function, memory and mental clarity.

Grape Seed (vitis vinifera) is a rich source of oligomeric proanthocyanidin (OPC) complexes that have been suggested to support normal levels of inflammation, the structural integrity of the capillaries that supply the retina, myopia (short-sightedness), visual acuity, occasional blood-shot eyes and provide nutritional support for the body’s ability to resist macular and retinal degeneration and cataracts.

Ginkgo may improve blood circulation to the eyes by several mechanisms including support for central and peripheral blood flow, normal levels of vasospasm, normal levels of blood viscosity, support for the body’s resistance to free-radicals, support for normal platelet activating factor activity, support for healthy levels of apoptosis and excitotoxicity.

N-Acetyl-Carnosine is a potent, anti-‘free radical’ and anti-AGE (advanced glycation end product) amino acid purported to provide nutritional support for ocular disorders that have a component of free radical oxidative stress in their genesis, e.g., cataracts, glaucoma, macular and retinal degeneration, corneal disorders, ocular inflammation and ophthalmic complications of diabetes mellitus and systemic diseases.

Taurine is a potent amino acid that concentrates in the retinal macula, where it exerts effects that support the body’s ability to fight age-related macular degeneration (ARMD). Research has suggested the ability of taurine to naturally support the body’s own resistance to the glycation of proteins in the lens of the eye caused by exposure to sugars, esp. the hyperglycemia associated with diabetes mellitus. Taurine deficiency can cause degeneration of the retina.

Methionine is an essential, sulfur-containing amino acid whose deficiency can cause cataracts. Methionine supplementation helps prevent this nutrient deficiency.

Quercetin is a flavanol bioflavonoid that helps support the body’s ability to resist cataract formation by nutritionally supporting the inhibition of the enzyme aldose reductase, which catalyzes the conversion of glucose to sorbitol in the lends of the eyes; it is suggested that accumulation of sorbitol in the ocular lens may result in cataracts.

Vinpocetine, derived from the seeds of the Common Periwinkle (Vinca-major) plant, naturally supports normal blood circulation to the eyes, especially to the retina and macula regions.

Ascorbyl Palmitate, the highly bioavailable, lipid soluble form of vitamin C, along with the carotenoids Lutein, Astaxanthin and Zeaxanthin and other natural mixed carotenoids, have been extensively researched worldwide and demonstrated to provide nutritional support for free radical oxidative stress-induced damage to the eyes, age-related macular and retinal degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, cataracts, glaucoma, myopia and nyctalopia (night blindness).

(R)-Lipoic Acid is a potent, water- and lipid-soluble free radical fighter, which helps support the body’s natural resistance to age-related macular and retinal degeneration, cataracts, and glaucoma, in part, by helping to support vitamin C, glutathione and vitamin E within the infrastructure of the eyes.

DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) is an omega-3 fatty acid that is highly concentrated in the retina of the eyes and supports the function of the light-receptive retinal cones and rods. The retina contains higher concentrations of DHA than any other tissue of the human body. DHA is essential to the healthy functioning of the retina dn macula.

Healthy Vision™ contains Seanol®-P, a sea-based, polyphenol-phlorotannin extract containing large amounts of ‘lipophilic’ (fat-soluble), ‘hydrophobic’ (water-insoluble) compounds. This gives Seanol®-P the unique ability to be easily absorbed into, and concentrated in all the cells of the body, including the eyes. Seanol®-P also has the added advantage of being able to pass through the blood-brain barrier, thereby helping to support overall ocular function, memory and mental clarity.
